# How to connect WooCommerce to Intercom

**Important**

Our plugin supports two methods of connecting Intercom to WooCommerce (WordPress). You can choose between installing via the Intercom App Store or deploying your own application.

**You must deploy your own application if you wish to use our Canvas Kit extension and display customer information inside the Intercom Inbox.**

**Own Application** (Recommended & Required for Canvas Kit)

1. Log into Intercom and proceed to https://developers.intercom.com/ Click **Your Apps** in the top right hand corner.

2. If you have existing apps, they will appear; otherwise, your screen will be empty. Click **New App**

3. Enter a name for your app. This name will appear in your Intercom Inbox, so use a name which will reflect the functionality to you and your team, e.g. WooCommerce, etc. Choose the Workspace to install the app. Click **Create App**

4. Click **Edit**, and update your permissions. Do not enable OAuth. When finished, click **Save**

Your permissions should be the following:

And workspace permissions:

5. Hover over your access token and regenerate it if prompted. Then copy it to your clipboard, you will need it shortly.

6. If you wish to use Canvas Kit, and have your WooCommerce information in the Intercom Inbox, click **Canvas Kit**. Then **For Teammates**, and check the box which reads **Add to conversation details**

In the provided boxes, enter the same URL, replacing 'example.com' with your WordPress/WooCommerce URL e.g.

```
https://example.com/wp-json/wooninja-intercom/v1/canvas-kit
```

Click **Save**

7. Click **Basic Information**, and make a note of your **Client Secret**

8. Install the Wordpress plugin, then open **WooCommerce**, click **Settings**, then **Intercom Extension by WooNinja**.

- Enter your **Access Token**from Step 5.
- Enter your Workspace ID

To find your Workspace ID, look at your URL when using Intercom. It should look like the following:

```
https://app.intercom.com/a/apps/abc12341/developer-hub
```

Using this example, your Workspace ID would be **abc12341**

9. If using, enter your Client Secret from Step 7 in the field **Intercom Canvas Kit - Client Secret.**

10. Click **Save Changes**

You are now ready to use the Intercom plugin for WooCommerce! If you have installed the Canvas Kit, it should appear in your sidebar.

If it does not appear, scroll down and check it is enabled.
