The majority of content from WordPress can be migrated to/from Thinkific. However, there are some specific caveats.
Courses, including video, audio, and presentations, must be manually transferred. For example, you must create a course in Thinkific and manually build the content. Course content cannot be uploaded or otherwise automatically transferred. Please note that WooNinja does not offer migration services for course content.
Student / User accounts can be migrated, but passwords cannot. Users will have to set new passwords when they first log into Thinkific.
Enrollments can be moved to Thinkific, but progress through a course cannot. For example, a student can be enrolled in the same course in Thinkific as they were in WordPress, but if they have already started the course in WordPress and proceeded through it, e.g., 35% completed, this completion data cannot be migrated into Thinkific; the student will start ‘from scratch’. Likewise, if a student has completed a course, that completion (And certificate) cannot be transferred to Thinkific. It is very important that if you intend to migrate courses, a student may have started or finished, you inform them that this progress will not appear in Thinkific as this is often a source of additional admin as students fear they have ‘lost’ their courses.
The speciality of WooNinja is migrating enrollments based on simple and advanced criteria in WordPress e.g. “Only enroll students in Course B in Thinkific if they have completed Course B in WordPress, do not enroll any student that has started Course B” etc
Certificates cannot be migrated to Thinkific. Therefore, it is recommended that students download and save their WordPress certificates by a specific date.
Quiz Results, Assignment Submissions and Survey Answers cannot be migrated to Thinkific.
Payment information, including subscriptions, cannot be migrated. When a student moves from WordPress to Thinkific, they must re-enter their credit card details (And re-purchase if necessary) their access to a course. Note that this assumes you are using Thinkific Payments or Stripe via Thinkific; if you intend to use a third-party payment system, such as WooCommerce, this may not apply.
In general, most clients permit students to finish their course on their original system, e.g., WordPress, and then offer a discount when they move to Thinkific, with the eventual goal of sunsetting (Turning off) the WordPress system on a given date, e.g. six months from the date of the migration to Thinkific.
